IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT OPENING A NEW ACCOUNT

Establishment and Signatory of an ABLE TN Account - An Account may be established by an Eligible Individual or an Authorized Individual, as defined in the Program Disclosure Brochure.

Read this section if you are opening an Account as an Authorized Individual (person with the authority to open the Account)- As an Authorized Individual of an adult Account Owner who either (1) lacks the capacity to contract and for whom you have authority to act, or (2) has legal capacity to contract and has granted you power of attorney. The Authorized Individual is the person who can transact on the Account on behalf of the Account Owner. The Authorized Individual may be the Account Owner's agent under a power of attorney, a conservator or legal guardian, spouse, parent, sibling, grandparent of the Account Owner, or a representative payee appointed for the Account Owner by the Social Security Administration, in that order.

There will be certain documentation required for the establishment of an Account for any person or entity asserting Signatory Authority as an Authorized Individual as outlined on the page of the online enrollment where the Authorized individual enters their information. If the documentation requires the authority of two or more signatories, please download, print and complete an enrollment form and submit it to the Plan accompanied with the authorizing documentation.
There are just four easy steps to open a new account.
  1. Read the Disclosure Brochure
  2. Choose the best Investment Option for you
  3. Gather information
    1. Residential street address
    2. Social security or taxpayer identification number
    3. Birth date
    4. Your personal bank account number (to pre-schedule contributions from your personal checking or savings account)
  4. Determine if you have an existing ABLE account with ABLE TN or another ABLE plan. You are only allowed to have one ABLE account at a time, except for when you are processing a Program-to-Program transfer. Our system has access to check other ABLE plan platforms. If it is determined that you have or have had an ABLE account, you may be unable to proceed with the online enrollment, and you may be required to complete an Enrollment Application form.
*We are required by federal law to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. If you don't provide the requested information, we may not be able to open your account. If we are unable to verify your identity, the Plan reserves the right to close your account or take other steps we deem reasonable.

To help the government prevent the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.
